More bits failing now!!!!!

Hi guys right then

After a weekend away the following bits have now stopped working...

1. The rear wiper and washer not working (as before)

2. REar pass side window not working from teh drivers side switch

3. The dash computer is stuck on 5mpg and the rest really low and don't move in anyway (except the time one)

4. Headlights work on dipped (i.e. the projector bit) and sidelight but main beam has stopped working.

5. Fuel guage is very eratic (posslinked to the computer problem) was showing full then gradually moved down to 3/4 then all of a sudden dropped to 1/2 then back up again to 3/4. Then this morning on half where it should have been tehn finished work and it is showing empty!!!

Clues please guys, Checked all teh fuses in the box under the bonnet and they are all okay...

Def not water getting into or under the fusebox mate? just the thought of a few electrical probs at once makes me woner.

Dash problems could be the voltage stabiliser on the back of the clocks. I've got a couple of spare dashes so you can try a regulator from them. Before I swapped to RS2 clocks my fuel guage would sporadically drop to zero and stay there for days.

Window switch is probably a trapped wire. Does it work from the rear door switch? If so does the motor stall if you press the switch in the drivers door while it's moving?

Rear wiper is more than likely the tailgate wiring on the nearside. Could be the stalk. I might have a spare one of those too.

Worst case scenario they could all be linked

aye earth was my next guess. how/where does the dash ground though? well, the components of the dash that is.

think the dash earth point is on the passenger side up above the glove box if that helps

My rear wiper and washer didnt work (wiper worked if washer disconnected) found the fault yesterday, the 3 brown wires running through the rubber pipe going from tailgate to body had sheared.

ah yes - you're right. I've spent long enough upside down with my head in the footwell, messing about with the ECU. I should have remembered that.

Swapped in the plasmas and the dash problems stopped for a while.......

Right onto the next bits.

The speedo has started throwing a dicky fit in the mornings, only in the mornings. I know how it feels at 5am but it still should work for me. Just seems to not work (same as the MPG etc etc) but after 5 mins or a few sharp taps on the dash screen comes to life. Suggestions guys please. Really chuffed with the car and still on the niggles sort. Need to get all the elecy bits done asap as the car is in for its MOT before the 22nd of this month

Fingers crossed after a good oil change it should be all pretty easy. Can't forsee any probs other than perhaps a leaky down pipe (looks like it has met a speed bump at the Y section) but can't hear anything after tightening the wastegate section up (as the bolts were loose).

Next prob to is I have a faulter on over boost. pulls like a train in 2nd then 3 and 4the it seems to get there then pull back and get there again then pull back etc etc etc. Desn't feel or sound like a misfire BTW.

Speedo woes might be the speed / distance sensor Az, as that would affect the trip computer too....

Ah, to play the devils advocate, (sorry) why would a tap on the dash make it work again. Did it again this morning and this time the miles left in the tank screen did not work on the computer, everything else did just not that. Strange how it all works fine in the afternoon/evening. Tis just the mornings that it seems to happen ??????
