    3B Battery p/n?

Could anyone please confirm the correct Bosch part number for a 3B battery?

Euro Car Parts have a 45Ah battery listed as the correct item for the job, however it's tiny in comparison to the 65Ah battery I removed.

They told me that their Lion brand is made for them by Bosch, anybody know if this is true?

    Cheers

I'm reliably informed by my colleague that ECP Lion brand is most definately NOT Bosch. He also informed that Bosch branded batteries are in fact made by Varta. He used to run his own motor factor in Woking and has a good knowledge of what life is like in the aftermarket parts business.

The FA lists 63Ah as the correct size but it is an old number which supercedes to a 65Ah version. Can't get a Bosch number today though as the supplier is closed.

Thanks Ben, I thought the 'lion' brand sales pitch from the guy on the counter was b*llsh*t

Trouble is, they don't have the correct Bosch part specified for the S2 and I don't want the Lion alternative. I'll try GSF tomorrow and see what they have on the shelf.

      Cheers,

Steve, from my experience its best to measure the battery you have LXHXW in mm. Make a note of the battery terminals (round!). Then buy the same size battery!
Technically there is also the hold down to consider.
Most of the on line catalogues are inaccurate. It seem to me that you get sold what they have rather than what fits. Its especially important when the battery lives under the seat, however that won't apply in your case!
Is there any numbers on the existing battery. If there is it often includes the battery type. I think its 065 for your car. You can then try and find a HD equivelent. Can't see the harm in buying the battery with the biggest capacity as long as its fits.

            Just found my notes.
Typically a battery should have an ETN number on it. This is a 9 digit number. For example: 543 023 039.
The first 3 related to the capacity in A. You subtract 500.
The next 3 are the case details.
The last 3 are the cold cranking rating in A. You multiply this by 10.
So the example would work out as a 43A 023 cased 390CCA battery.

Robin, Thanks for the info, back to ECP to return the wrong unit and off to GSF to see if I can get the right Bosch unit. Failing that I'll look for a Varta battery.

I usually fit a diesel battery on my cars. Just make sure its the same size as the original. better cranking i find.

Need to get a battery for the URS4 in the next week or so.
