    A4 ignition key

HI know its not an s or an rs but i thought if anyone can give me some pointers your the people.

Ive got an A4 1.8T on a P reg until i get my S2 back on the road and im having some trouble with the key. It unlocks the doors fine when you press the button but now and again the car wont start up and the light on the dash stays on. Its starting to happen more often and i dont want to get stuck.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Si

more than likely the reader coil that is at fault.Never done one on an A4 but i believe it is part of the ignition barrel on those but should be replaceable without too much trouble, have you got another key?if so does it happen with that as well?

      as

mentioned it is probebly the reader coil, if it happens with several keys, the reader coil is seperat, but you have to remove the trim around the steering wheel along, with the ignition lock. not to much hassle, but the two little screws to remove the ignition, are hidden behind to small red paint dots, just scrape those away and undo the lock
