    Bulb for ambient temperature display

Got a 3mm 12v diode from local supplier, but it was way too weak. Seems that I need the superbright version that Maplin sells (CJ70M). However, Maplin wants £40 to ship this 1 gram £0.39 bulb to Norway, which is slightly ridiculous...

Does anyone know of another place to get them, or have some spares kicking around?

Surely there must be an electronics supplier in Norway?
    None on Ebay?

No 12v high output ones on Ebay (need to have internal resistor due to limited space), and the Norwegian electronics supplier only stock the low output type.

But do you really need a LED?
I did this one yesterday and my weapon of choice was a 12V 60mA sub miniature bulb.
Worked a treat, and no more hassle for the next 10years?

Stock bulb is a sub miniature type, but they have a reputation of burning out pretty quickly. Where did you get it? Elfa? Part number?

I have always used the sub miniature bulb in the past. It's been fine.

                    I bought it from Kjell&Co:

                    Couldn't find one @ ELFA.

I have some left overs, if you like I can throw them in an envelope and post them to you?
Perhaps that's not an option if you want them ASAP.

An old thread but has anyone done this recently? The maplin link goes to the home page and I am no electronics whizz so I need my hand holding.

Anyone know what the current maplin part number is or the spec of the bulb? Pretty sure I can get someone at work to do the soldering for me to save me from destroying it!
