    HID issue...

Got me a bit of an problem.....
Having never had a problem with my HID's and the autocheck system, it seems now that it has....the autocheck system will sometimes sound when my lights are switched on. This is really odd as I am not sure what has occured...

Why would it work one minute then not the next...
Could my ballast resistors have failed??....
The lights do work....and the warning chimes happen with random occurence....
what's going on??....anyone else had this happen....

I have checked the forum for this and there is mention of "fixing" a relay pin...but as I have never had a problem before could it be something else?!?!?...

    any advice gratefully received.....
    cheers

    Mike

check and clean up the earth points and see if that does it.

if your hids are of latest technology where the resistors to fool the 'broken bulb' circutry are intergrated in the ballasts, then you could be having a ballast fail slowly.
If you have made your own resistors, check the wiring, which may have come loose.Otherwise just do the pin mod and go on using the hids until something actually does appear(such as ballast fault)

I have the vagparts kit, find the ballast and look for where the black wire has been earthed and clean it up

I have a HID kit that 4WheelDrifter sourced from Japan. One week it was fine, the next autocheck would fire off randomly as you say. I ended up doing the k-pin mod to stop the autocheck and its been fine since.

You'll have to do the K Pin mod, it's not a fault usually of the HID's as in some cars the HID's will trip Autocheck and in others it won't.

Had exactly the same in my Coupe and my VAGpart HID's, some days would trip other days it wouldn't. I then gave each ballast an individual ground to the body to stop it.

In my Avant the same kit does not trip autocheck ever.

It's mainly down to grouding, ground to the car body not the lighting OEM wiring if this fails then K Pin mod

cheers for the help guys....it is really weird as it has never been a problem til checking a boost leak issue and removing the headlight....even after re-fitting the light it still didn't give me any problems...looks like a job for me next weekend.....

                  once again thanks everyone....
