    Keys stolen HELP !!!

The keys for my S2 have been stolen

Fortunately they where no where near my car at the time as they were taken during a theft from another vehicle. Can't say to much on that at the minute as police are involved.

I have a spare ignition key and I can bypass the old scorpion 918 alarm.

As I see it there are a number of options

    Option 1:
Leave locks alone, try to obtain a spare scorpion remote.
I feel this will be difficult to obtain and near impossible to program with out the original remote. I little risky as keys for my car could be anywhere.

    Option 2:
Try to find a second hand scorpion 918 with fob and do a like for like swap
    Leave locks alone.
This is a little more secure.

    Option 3:
Get a decent alarm fitted for £225 ish
    Leave locks alone.

    Option 4:
Go all out with new locks/ignition/alarm.
    Any idea of price ?

Insurance will pay upto £750 but the exsess is £300

    All help greatly appreciated

    cheers

When i bought my car i changed the locks. All you have to do is buy the central lock for the iginition and then a locksmith can alter the locks on the door and boot. You dont need to change the whole set.
as for the alarm,i would replace it immediatelly with a clifford alarm, possibly a GPS system as well.

but do change the locks.Once you buy the ignition lock with the new key,you can alter the rest.

well i had done mine in Greece, but i suspect that people doing paint jobs and fixing crashed cars etc would know themselves,or at least someone who can do it.The lock themselves are taken apart and some internals are fitted differently or replaced and you are ok.You need to remove the door trims though...

Get a full lock set from a breaker and get them delivered to a different address. There is a locksmith in Sheffield that can make a lock fit a key, I have used them on my BMW locks. I'll find out the name of them if you want.
In the meantime pull the motor fuses from the fuse box, as, when they are removed you wouldn't know they were supposed to be there.

A brand new ignition lock with 2 keys is about £35 from Vagparts.
They take about a week to come from Germany.

              Thanks bry and dest

Car is secured, new ignition lock will be ordered today.

Had a look at an old lock earlier it would appear to be highly possible to replace the tumblers to suite any key.

              However

Would it not be possible to fit a lock set from any early A4 ?

              just a thought

Also going to get a cat 1 fitted as funds allow, scorpion alarm is well dated now.

              cheers

Ive had Ai606's on my last 3 cars and NEVER had a problem or a single false alarm in over 5 years of using them.
It does bring up the age old arguement about Toad and Clifford: which is best?
Have a search on any car forum about Clifford problems, then do the same for Toad

only problem with this ( you dont need a lock smith its a piece of piddle to do your self . ) you then make you locks except a lot more keys than it is ment to . all you do is take the barrel out put the key in and file it flat so the barrel moves around in the hole it goes into. its that simple. but i thought for piece of mind id rip the alarm out pronto to save somebody driving past and pressing th ebutton and seeing your car flash open to them. an di have seen car key sets for cheap money on the bay.

You forgot option 5... get rid of the locks. Don't lose the fob for your new alarm though.
