    Blown bulbs in cluster

Debated whether to put this in Electrical or Interior... oh well... gotta go somewhere:

Two blown bulbs in the instrument cluster:
    Digital Clock
    Ambient Temperature

I've seen the excellent guide on s2central about removing the cluster. And also the picture of the back of the cluster showing where the bulbs are and so on.

However: I can't tell from that what bulbs I need to get to replace the above blown ones.

I'm sure there's people here who have done it. Can someone put me out of my misery with this info (rather than any other way!)? Cheers.

(The info would also be useful for the master bulb list being put together elsewhere!)
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

There's a guide for replacing the ambient temp bulb under "Related Information" where you saw that Instrument Cluster guide on S2 Central. I think the clock uses one of the Orange (Hex) 1.1W bulbs, Part #4A0-919-040-C.

I just did it and it's a case of looking for where the dark spots appear on the dash and the nearest bulb to that on the back. I had a dark spot on the rev counter 1500 - 3000 rpm and there is a buld almost directly behind it.

Now I've replace that one the one behind the temp guage has gone which also lights up the very end of the rev counter.

Sorry I can't be any more help!

The ambient temp gauge has to be removed and taken to bits before you can desolder the bulb and solder in a new one. It is a bit fiddly, but with all the correct bits, it can be done in about half an hour. There's loads of posts about changing this bulb. Just do a search for them.

I've never done the clock one so I can't help there.
