Could you help me to locate the same fuse on LHD car? I have re-soldered the relay twice now and tried a spare one, but still no sunroof and windows(only randomly for a day or so)).
Also, witch terminals should i probe on the relay, to check if the power comes to the relay or not.

ps: could the termal fuse be swapped with a regular fuse? seems like a easy check for the thermal fuse

electric window thermal fuse location - LHD

        Hi all,

Having the same intermitent, temperature related window problems as Jas11n, on my 1994 LHD ABY.
However there is no fuse next to relay 292 as per his picture, I can see the two others he mentioned
(a 12A and a 30A) but as far as I can see there is no yellow 20A fuse under the steering wheel at all.

        The only other vaguely fuselike thing under there is one marked 60A 32V which I guess isnt it either . . . . . . . ?

Could any LHD owners point me in the right direction as its getting annoying, its hot in Spain now and
opening the door to pay tolls is a pain in the asre!

        cheers!

JUST TO SAY... to anyone with intermittent windows probs, don't give up or lose faith... I finally got mine fixed this week !!!

I have had intermittment failure of windows for a year, sometimes up, down or part way ... I tried
1- new motor (old one was struggling)
2- taking out the 363 relay and banging it on the floor (worked for two days)(detailed pics on this forum of the 363)
3- cleaning the contacts on the 363 relay - seemed to work for a few weeks
4- checking the cable run through the door jam
5- checking the switches and swapping them with passenger side
6 - replacing the thermal cut-out fuse (detailed on this forum)
7- pulling open the 363 relay (pics on this forum) and looking for dodgy/dried solder - couldn't see any!

FINALLY... I took the car to a specialist auto electrician, who charged me £60 and said YES indeed some of the solder joints were not good, and re-soldered them.

          NOW it works !!!
          SOLD !

Relay is in the auxiliary fuse panel above drivers feet - double wide relay - cant miss it
The thermal fuse can be in any available location down there - not always same slot

                  Si,

                  See post number 18 ?

This has probably been discussed before, but indulge me.

Jas11n, do you think that it might be possible to swop in a VW Corrado twin relay like our S2 363 relay and then we might have one touch up and down on the drivers window and possibly the passenger window, or am I assuming a bit too much ?

                  Thanks.

                  Kind regards.

Someone find the schematics for that Corrado and we can have a proper chat
Still would need relay pinout to be identical for painless relay swap though...

I normally take pictures of everything, so hunting through my old pictures I found one from a couple of years ago.

Drop the drivers parcel tray down (4 x M8 bolts) and look up at the top righthand side and you'll see the large control relay. Sitting underneath is three thermal fuses. The ones on the right are in a double holder and for something else (not sure what) and the one for our window/sunroof system is on the left. This is a RHD picture though, I'm not sure how much different LHD is in it's layout.

just for the avant owners ours is a different setup we have two fuses together its the top one you need mine is red but they have the same part numbers
