I couldn't find the thermal fuse on my LHD ABY Avant, so eventually got a replacement 363 relay from fleabay (£30)
Electric windows now work perfectly !!

On a similar subject has anyone experienced the window switch lights (the whole panel on the door with the wing mirror switches on an RS2) not going out and draining the battery? Just started happening, very annoying.

Just a quick note of thanks to Jason for this thread, been pulling the S2 apart today to cure the same fault and, yep, it's the self same thing...

Not packed up through 2 heat cycles today, so fingers crossed....

Just had the same problem with the power windows and sunroof quitting. Searched the forum, found this thread, tested the two thermal fuses (they were fine), pulled the relay, found a somawhat scetchy looking solder joint, resoldered.

Ok, my windows are not work when the car is warm while standing in the sun. Is it the relais or the fuses?

I fixed the same problem 6 years ago, by re-soldering a broken joint, and it returned earlier in the year. Took the large relay out and carefully re-flowed all the joints and all seems well. I'll be chjecking that little fuse out though, as that's a new one to me

I have rear offside window stuck and had issues with front nearside today, time for a look at this relay and fuse I think.

I re-soldered mine today and for the time being it works. I am gonna see tomorrow while it stands under the sun. I the last month it never worked when the inside of the car was hot.

Yep, top thread is this... Followed it about a year and a half ago, had all windows and roof playing up in the winter of 2010... Followed the 'soldering iron' technique and it's run fine ever since....

Seems the resoldering did the trick. Today while under the sun the windows worked with no issues.
