    Couple Of HID Related Questions

just bought a kit off ebay and was wondering, how to fit them are they really easy to fit, im a bit of a novice...

do i need to earth the kit or will the standard loom provide earthing

also wheres the best place to hide/place the ballasts? also do you double side tape/velcro or zip tie them

just want to make sure ive got everything to hand before i goto work, has my cars a daily user

Although it depends on the size of the ballasts, both of mine fitted behind their respective headlights using bolts/self tappers into the plastic panels behind the headlights.

On the off-side the ballast just fitted to the o/s of the air-box inlet. On the n/s the ballast fitted on the plastic closing panel between the radiator and inner wing.

Don't earth the ballasts if you want to avoid Autocheck problems. Just connect the ballast supply cables to the headlight bulb + ve and the -ve to the earth stud by the bulb inside the headlight unit.

They are really easy just take your time and you will be fine, best thing to do is take the headlight off the car, mod the cover to run the wires thru plug the plus into the plug that goes onto the original bulb (yellow wire, presume this is ellipsoids your fitting them to)

I earthed mine directly to bodywork, cleaned it up etc and had no problems with the autocheck etc.

ballasts, drivers side, directly under the headlight is enough space and there is a plastic nut I used to secure the ballast as there is hardly any movement. Passenger side I actually mounted mine on the upright next to the headlight (for the front slam panel)

On mine I earthed it to the bodywork to get the best earth possible, I tried using the earth inside the headlight on my dads car but found the lights would flicker slightly which was a pita.

I had 4 ballasts to try and hide one mine. On the drivers side, I've got one between the airbox and inner wing, and the the other one sits underneath the airbox, in a nice small cubby hole. On the the passenger side, I had a bracket and hung one from the PAS reservoir mount and there was a tapped hole next to it to mount the other one. Took a bit of thought but seems to work ok. Mine are earthed to the bodywork. But I'm getting an Autocheck warning when on dip headlights, so will take a look at this during the week.

I will do, I've been on nights all weekend and er....not really plucked up the energy to go and sort it since

I will take some more pictures of ballast mounting and some of the wiring soon, to go on my project thread.

Mine flicker slightly too, probably becasue they're cheap. Nothng to worry about I don't think.

You did burn them in properly though?
