    Fuel gauge/range adjustment on S2central.net

I'm trying to cure my under-reading fuel gauge as I never know how much fuel I've got in. I've managed to get hold of the cap for the adjuster screw and pulled it out of the cluster but it appears to be attached to something...

    See picture:

I'm worried about breaking it and rendering it useless.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Another thing - if I hold the reset button and turn the ignition on, all I get it "53" on the autocheck screen, I don't get the autocheck code in the trip computer display, it just goes to the normal display

    Help!

Right. I carried on pulling the cap and found that it was just stuck inside the allen key type adjuster. I didn't find that out until I'd stripped the cluster down though!

But I've now seen the adjustment mechanism and from the rear of the cluster it looks suspectly like someone has "adjusted" it from the rear of the cluster with a pair of pliers. I've reassembled the cluster and put it back in ready to calibrate.. the problem is the Autocheck still does the same thing. If I hold the reset button and turn the ignition on, the Autocheck displays "53" and the trip computer just show MPG.

I'm just uploading a video to youtube to explain what I mean.
