Can Someone Explain poor Headlighting or recommend an HID upgrade?

A few questions: -

1. Where do the 55W HIDs come from, as J.A.M. performance do not seem to state whther theirs are 35W or 55W?

2. If I buy 55W HIDs for my projectors, is there any way to make my current 35W HIDs fit in my front fog lights?

3. Also, for a friends Audi 80 TDi without projectors, will it pass an MOT with a 35W HID conversion (beam pattern issues etc)? Looking for a BTDT on this one as I have seen arguements for both MOT pass and fail.

AcidPete has them on his H4 lit avant and had no problems AFAIK so yes I think as long as the beam pattern is fine then shouldn't have any issues.

My 35W HIDs are fine but if I could find a way to fit them into the fogs, then that would mean I could upgrade to 55W HIDs for even......

I asked as I assumed that H1's and H3's have different footprints (personally I wouldn't reconise an H3 bulb if it bit me on the Arsenal ). I had not thought about just getting bulbs as I have never seen then sold separately and also I was not sure if the leads use a standard connector type

2/ Standard type connector. Bulbs available all over ebay, here for example >>> Linky, choose H3 and seller is in the UK.
Or search for far east sellers instead, there's loads.

They are H3 matey.

I just wanted to know how to fit a perfectly good pair of H1 HIDs into them. I know it is likely to be impossible, but I had to ask, even if just to stop me pondering it any further

The kit I fitted in my fogs 2.5 years ago were originally an H1 kit.
Just buy some more bulbs, the connectors are the same.

Excuse me, the fog lights are in H3 not H1; and I´ve got an old H1 8.000ºK HID kit.
How can I put they on?

Seriously matey, you are not wasiting your time and thanks for the link. I have had a look and will get a set of H3 bulbs once I get a 55W H1 kit fitted

Been meaning to ask you about that. How much extra light do you get with the HID fogs on? Is it worth it for dark country lanes or is the light too low and the reflectors too poor to improve on the projector HIDs?

thats what mine was like as I fitted the fog hids before the normal one's and made a hell of a difference even before i fitted the ellipsoids etc.

led rear bulbs afaik trip the autocheck out.

Thanks Pete, but my question was, since I already have HID powered ellipsoids, do you think that HID fogs will actually improve anything? After all, the dipped lights have a longer throw than the fogs.

OK thanks mate. It sounds like the extra £30 for the H3 bulbs will not be worth it then, particularly if going to 55W HIDs anyway.
