  • Thank me later - Bosch service parts

    http://apps.bosch.com.au/products/sa...rviceparts.pdf

Found by accident - in the search for a source of 55-pin ECU connector... the loom end - not the PCB end.

Just in case the penny doesn't drop with everyone here - that first link to the Bosch service parts includes lists and pictures of all the various multipin connectors, insulation hoods and spare pins that are applicable to our cars.

For example on the bottom of page C4 there is the MAF connector plug kit - 1 267 013 004 - see how it calls up the Bosch numbers for things that it generally fits

And the pins for these connectors on page C8 include those for the general engine bay plugs plus the 55-pin ECU connector as well.

And note the pin extraction tool 1 987 352 125

Been looking for that info for such a long time - then I get it by accident. Fantastic !

Just found Bosch number for the 55-pin ECU connector - the loom side... Not JPT55 style for PCB mounting.

                Bosch number = 1 928 401 304

Paul: All good stuff. I have already shared the info on the Audiworld UrS forum:

                  http://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/262780.phtml

Just wondered: Have you found a male equivalent to the Bosch 4 pin loom to POS connector: 1 287 013 900? It would be useful as an alternative source to the four pin Volvo connector used to complete 1.8t coil pack and now Delphi LS2 D585 coil conversions.

No - I can't see that one... Weird that their is only a few available in female and male versions. Just not all sizes.

I'm waiting back on quotes from a Bosch agent on prices for this stuff... It should be easy to use these connectors for handy little sensor test modules. I'm lucky enough to have zee big 55-pin breakout box here and an oscilloscope, but most people end up teasing back the hoods and precariously inserting meter probes and maybe getting some useful info.

This could open up all sorts of ideas for cheap and simple test gizmos that don't intrude on the loom and allow easy testing of critical sensors like G4, G28, G40 using cheap and simple electronic components.

I'll see if I can cook up a few ideas - I'm sure the other electrical folk can think of some too.

I've printed that all out now - so I can ooze over it properly...

Getting back to the plot - connectors and terminals - I have starting to document all the various part numbers on the ones of interest.

I sent emails to two big component suppliers with some AMP part numbers that I took off the loom connectors. They both drew a blank and could not crosslink to current catalogues. By lots of searching and some more luck I discover these kind of plugs are commonly referred to as 'Junior Timer' or 'Junior Power Timer' connectors in some circles. Here's on proof of that -

                            http://eagleday.stores.yahoo.net/ampconnectors.html

And then I realised why VEMS refer to their 55-pin Motronic ECU connector as the 'JPT-55'...

So I'm looking to find adapters or MALE versions of the various AMP connectors to progress a few ideas here. I've only found MALE versions of the 2-pin and maybe 6-pin so far - but 3pin and 4pin would be awesome. If anybody else wants to join the search then that would be great.
