    Computer & Auto/Minicheck

I have a couple of things I’d like to fix on with my Trip computer & Autocheck.
    Hoping someone can help.

One is that my S2 does not have an Autocheck unit but has a Minicheck unit instead. I don’t know if Australian S2’s came out with minicheck’s (I’ve read that all S2’s had Autocheck) or if it was changed but I have part numbers of parts installed in 2006 from the cars service history.
Part numbers which were installed in 2006 are:
    893 919 059 C (Printed Circuit)
    895 919 151 B (Display / Computer)
    898 919 472 (Display / Minicheck)
If I can get a hold of a European (km & litres) Autocheck unit, will it be a simple case of swaping the two? And which actual part/s will I need to replace?
Would I just need the Autocheck display unit or would I need the printed circuit and computer display too? (I’m hoping to find one off ebay.de).

The Auto/minicheck computer code displayed (when I follow the procedure here: http://s2central.net/autocheck_03.html) is a773 and country code is JA.

The second thing which is more annoying – and probably related to above – is that the instantaneous and average fuel consumption displays (in L/100km) don’t display correctly. Numbers are displayed but they don’t make sense. Instantaneous L/100km numbers go down when fuel consumption should be going up and visa versa (but not MPG).
The average fuel consumption displays around 7.6 whereas if I work it out off the odometer when I fill up its between 12.5 and 13.5 L/100km.
All I can think of is that the inverse of 7.6 is around .131 (L/km?) ... . so just thinking about this now its probably displaying km/L.... All the other functions on the computer work so it seems that its just calculating the data the wrong way round…

    Any ideas?
I'd like to sort these out and put in a new temp display lamp in one go.

The minicheck loom is totally different to the autocheck i'm afraid - not a simple swap, but has been done. Dash out job, lots of wiring to do.

Good news is that km / litre computers are pretty easy to come by on ebay.de or the like.

Your S2 should have auto check and trip computer, a previous owner may have fitted a mini check with trip computer for some oddball reason. I'd remove the instrument cluster and check to see if the autocheck plug is hanging free.

It was an Audi dealer that fitted the parts I mentioned above - apparently was faulty and had related issues with oil warning light coming on and burnt out oil pressure switches which were also replaced. But the service record doesn't say what computer was removed.

The trip computer is availble with mini check or autocheck integrated. Sounds like the dealer may have ordered and fitted the wrong part.

AFAIK they have different plugs though - less pins on the minicheck, although maybe the same plug connector i suppose

You're right Alex, now that you mention it, the Minicheck has a black 14 pin connector, Autocheck has a white 26 pin connector. Is the mini check connector occupied?

I haven't taken the dash off to look yet, was hoping to only have to do it once but might have to investigate a bit first.
