Standard Audi Remote alarm fob question

What is the small black button on the side of the remote for? It can be slid from one position to another...

    Cheers,

With the black button in the up position (ie,,,towards the arming/disarming buttons) means the ultrasonics will be activated when turning the alarm on.
With it in the down position, the alarm will arm, without ultrasonic protection (if you need to leave someone inside with the alarm "on")

I would like to have something better that the in-the-key door clooser device. What is it that you have in the UK?

        cheers

Ours have an Audi alarm that obviously locks that car and operates a siren seperate to the normal horn when the a door is opened or there is movement detected within the car. I am not sure who the OEM is for this alarm. (I am sure someone here can tell you )

That said, any decent car alarm company should be able to fit an alarm to your S2 for you.

I didn't think the Audi alarm had ultrasonics Mine is triggered when the doors, tailgate or bonnet are opened but doesn't detect movement inside the cabin. It's only key operated though not remote (or it was until I got one of the remote locking kits from VAG Parts)

After a certain year, Audi started fitting a remote alarm as standard that includes ultrasonic detectors mounted on the dashboard. It is not the most sophistcated alarm and the siren is mounted inside the car which means from the outside it is not very loud at all! I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing? Personally I would like a pukka CAT 1 Thatcham approved alarm in it, but am worried about fitted another alarm over the top of the existing one.

Incidentally I think the standard door key activated alarm still works if you key the door shut correctly.....
