intermittant coolant temp sensor/dash lights

recently changed my clocks in my 93 s2 avant.

The coolant temp guage isnt working sometimes, doesnt seem to be any logic to when or when its not working. Ive just fitted a new genuine MFTS, didnt make any difference, also when i fitted the clocks all the dash lights worked perfectly, now i just seem to have a couple in the centre of the binacle, the outer ones seem to have failed, any ideas?

About 6 at the same time? 1 second all working, next second half out?

Well AFAIK they're all on the same circuit so that'd be the first thing i'd check.
If the replacement clocks had been sitting round for ages the bulbs tend to fail pretty quickly IME
