Flat battery and avant tailgate prob

Hi guys, knew it wouldnt take long before i had to call on your advice!
(what i hadnt reckoned was that this might be my first port of call before i did anything to her!)
Shes been sitting for the last two weeks since i bought her and just went to give her a wash and a run and shes got a flat battery, totally flat! Shes got an after maket Sigma alarm fitted. (possibly the cause???).
But my problem is that to jump her i need access to the battery which is in the boot and centrallocking doesnt work cause of no power and you guessed it, locks never been used on the rear so totally gunked up!
Just wondered if theres any other ways into the boot or any other general suggestions. Thanks, AL

Doesn't you lock in the tail gate work with your key?

If not you have to do it the hard way like I have to as the key in my tailgate isn't the same as the rest of the car and that's drop the back seats, remove the load cover and connect up your jump leads or jump box

Cheers Jamo, kind thought i was going down that route, just meant jiggling the car around (as id neatly squeezed her into a lovely little parking space!) so that i could get a car near enough to do the out through the rear door idea.

So...............i got her jumped, dead easy, took her out for a 20mile run, shows a healthy 14v charge while driving but.............. u guessed it, wont turn over after stopping!

      Battery?

You can get the tailgate open by pulling the top of the inside tailgate trim off carefully (only need to pull back the top enough to get your hand behind it) then you can manually pull one of the rods towards the side of the car and it will open as if you are using the handle.
Doesnt matter if its locked either, because you are bypassing that bit

sounds more like the battery to me, the alternators charging it whilst running but the battery is not holding the charge when you get back.

One free way of finding out for definate is take it to a halfrauds as they will check it for free and tell you for definate which is at fault.

I believe you will have a current drain somewhere that is killing the battery, but yes take it to halfrauds to have it check out

Cheers guys, thin k ill pick up a new battery tmrw. My gut feeling is its the battery, She sat for months before i bought her and lot long before that shed sat for near enough a year so me thinks the batteries prob had it.
Thanks for the tips on gettin into the tailgate, fell like a bit of a novice with her! Been a petrol head all my days but not with Audis (i know i know it was always my true calling!) part from a brief fling with a 92 100 2.2e ive had loads of audis but all company cars, pah!
So from tha start my modifying days have been with Peugeots, know them inside out back to front and stripped blindfolded. (them not me!)
So thanks again for the help guys.
