    Audi Coupe Quantum Alarm Fob???

Ok guys so far i have found out that quantum is just a scorpio rebadged.
According to scorio's website the fob is coded to the alarm and will not need to be reset.
So the problem starts with i have 2 or 3 fobs have managed to get the fobs working or at least lights flashing but....... where is my alarm i cant find where i use the key to turn it off/on looked all over my engine bay and cant see the siren. I have read on here someone had it behind the rear door cards but wanted to see if you guys have any better ideas before i go taking my car to pieces ?
    cheers

If its the same as my (factory) Scorpion, you can prise the fob open and you should see a 4 (iirc) digit code on the chip inside - you can get a replacement fob based on that code for around £40.
The alarm unit is likely to be behind centre console or around fuse board above drivers glove tray.

EDIT: I have a replacment fob of this type:

Hi error i found it turned it on no joy i can set the alarm off by giving the blue wire attached to the bonnet sensor a wiggle and the fob turns the alarm off but the doors dont lock unlock or arm but there is a black wire coming out of the top of the rubber housing to protect the wiring from rain which appears to have been disconected any ideas ? or does the alarm need to be reset in a certain way after beeing off for so long?
        Cheers

don't think so, if the fob disarms the alarm after you set it off, then I think its probably a wiring fault somewhere stopping the doors etc locking and unlocking
did you find the actual control unit under the dash or anything?

Any pics of the unit you have in the engine bay?

lol.. i've never had the cover off the top of mine - didn't even know there was a key to override it
I've definately not got one anyway!

yours is in the same place as my old fwd 20v coupe - on my CQ its on the side of the turret by the master cylinder. you should find two boxes under the dash too - one behind the centre console gauges and a smaller one by around the relay board .......and if its anythign like mine, a horrendous wiring mess to go with it!

dunno about the black wire - where does it go? I'd trace it back to where it comes from to try and find out what it does
I'll have a look at mine later and see what wires come out of it etc and also get some pics of the units under the dash etc

Just rang scorion and spoke to tony the black wire is the ariel so shouldnt be connected he seems to think that its a fault with the alarm and no chance i can fix it. realy wanted to keep the orginal alarm to maintain originality. Will have a check under the dash mite even get an autoelectrition to take a quick look

Hmmm.... mine has sensors on the a-pillars....
If the immobiliser works on it then I'd put money on it being a wiring fault TBH.

can you start the car with the system armed, i.e. when the alarm goes off if you open the bonnet?

The alarm used seems to be the Scorpion 918. NOTE: the 915 was the lower version used on the VW's and only has one button on the remote (i.e. no panic button) and the controller/immobiliser has less features.

The alarm is in 2 parts, the siren and the control box/immobiliser. On my last 3 Audis, the siren has always been in the engine bay (near the rad) and the control box has always been mounted behind the dash to the left of the main instrument binnacle (as Error stated above). It can be accessed either be dropping the cubby panel below the steering wheel and looing up and to the left or by pulling the instrument binnacle out and looking in and down.

There are a set of dip switches on the control box which set various features such as central locking control, self diagnostics, passive arming (that one is a real pain), panic functions etc.

I have the installation and operation pdfs somewhere although other than a basic wiring diagram and the dip switches they are pretty feckin useless.

                            Cheers n
