    Cruise Control

A quick question guys. My S2 'K'93 has (or seems to have) cruise control (in german) on the left stalk. It doesn't seem to work. Would this be standard? or has someone just replaced it with the wrong one. Also the computer thingy, autocheck system has said for the last 2 weeks or so that I've been doing 23.5mpg. The timer and the miles left in the tank seems to be the only things that read right, sort of. Can I reset or check this somehow??

you have to reset each trip computer reading individually, i.e. select each setting, then reset one by one.

as far as the cruise not working.....its typically a vacuum leak. those are always fun to try to find, anyway...

I've reset all the relevant fields but they all just stay at zero

My cruise control didn't work when I originally test drove the car - it was fixed before I took delivery.
The fault was caused by a knackered microswitch on/near the clutch peddle - which is there to sense you depressing the clutch, which then turns the cruise control off. If the microswitch is dead, cruise control never engages because it thinks (incorrectly) that the clutch is down. This didn't affect anything else on the car.
        Ck.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

My cruise control switch is also in German. When I got mine it didn't work and I had Audi check the vacuum system and the pedal switches.
I then replaced the stalk (very easy), but it still didn't cure the fault. I eventually bit the bullet and replaced the controller. It lives behind the carbon/wood/leatherette panel on the dash above the glove box. If you remove the glove box and have a look you should see a small aluminium box (about 2 match boxes in size). This is the controller. Make sure the cable is firmly connected. Unscrew it and leave it hanging down. Go for a drive and try and switch CC on and off. You should hear it clicking.

Check the vacuum and switches first, then the stalk and then the controller. Its cheaper that way.

I've still got my old stalk that I changed if your interested. It didn't cure the fault so I know there's nothing wrong with it. I'll dig it out and get the part number for you.

My spare indicator stalk is P/N 443 953 513 J 01C. I think it'll probably be the same as the one on your car. You can have it for free if you think it'll help.
