    Fuel Gauge or Fuel Computer????

Afetr a bit of reading and some helpful replies im guessing ive probaly got a sticky or faulty sender (guage is up then down etc etc).
Problem im having is that the guage which seems to be relatively sedate and moving down slowly, when she gets to about quarter tank she suddenly read E and scares the S**t outa me!

So queation is, when the gauge reads quarter, do i have a quarter tank or do i have as the comp says, E for Empty or EEEEKKKKK!!!

A little reassurance til i get to the weekend would be apreciated. Thanks
PS. beter to replace or mend the sender?????

someone might have fiddled with your gauage previously as you can adjust the gauge range - i've got mine so it just reads E on the trip when the guage hits the red - you should still have about 10 litres left at that stage. HTH

yeah cant imagine why, its history is very well documented and cant see any reason for it but that doesnt mean anything!

        Be careful about this.

If your gauge was use to work properly in the past you might have a broken wire on the floater.
It happen to me and the problem was this:
At the end of the floater arm you have two bare copper wires that are connecting two sliders to a copper board with two tracks.
the time and the thousands times these two wires bend and bend... got one them to broke, and the only moment that I had the two broken parts got in contact I had a proper reading on the dash gauge (circa half a tank....)
I changed my floater..... but if the fault is this you can easily solder a new wire on the old one.

        P.S.
Don't need to say that soldering job has to be done with the part outside the tank....

just to add i recently had a problem with my fuel gauge not reading right - it was becasue I hadn't done the nuts up tight enough on the cluster when i put it back together after fitting the plasmas.

weird! its actually been better of late. Ive cleaned the MAF the ISV and replaced the PCV. these al seemed to hav made the gauge less iratic but still the other day it went a bit nuts when it got near quarter tank. think ill clean the contacts on the rear of the cluster. its coming out soon for some bulb replacement. ill let u know how it goes
