    S2 ABY Mystery

Hi there guys. I am new here so please bare with me I had my S2 resprayed, and my problem started after it. If you start the S2 in the morning 100 % drive for about 10 km switch the car off and thats it. It wont start again, starter is spinning but nothing, motor wont come alive. Flick the light switch and then boom she starts, this works about 70 % of the time. But then sometimes it does not work and it could take about 10 hours for it to start. Or if you are lucky 10 min later it fires . Any advice will be much appreciated.

Ok i will replace it with another hall sendor. But why if i switch the lights on does it then start. I have even considered the fact that maybe the altenator is over charging but it measures at 14.2 v when car is idling at 2000 rpm. I am looking like a fool

Check the fuse/relay plate under the bonnet and make sure this has not had water in it as this could cause a numorous amount of electrical problems such as yours

Sounds like immobiliser, pull the fuse for the immobiliser and central locking and see if it starts 1st time

              .

I had the same problem with my ABY ! It was the camshaft sensor ( hall sensor)
Could drive for miles then nothing ! I would doubt it is an immobillization problem ! Go with the majority not the minororty ! Good luck !

Its a doddle to change over ..still not convinced about HS as switching the lights on does not make much sense with that problem ...igntion switch issue maybe to?

I'd wager ignition switch myself here.

To try and rule out cam sensor - do the 5V LED test on it while engine is cranking next time its in the no start condition... 5V LED attached connected between pin 2 of G40 plug and ground should blink every other crank rotation.
