Any ideas? No reverse/rear main lights!

Reverse & Main Rear Lights Not Working. . .

I've tested the bulbs and they're all OK.

So, to be honest I am completely stumped as to why the main rear lights and also the reverse light are not working. Rear side and brake lights work fine.....

Any ideas S2forum? Would be grateful for any suggestions!

Are both lights on the same fuse? If so which one? I've had a look at the fuse cover and can't see reverse, main rear lights labelled anywhere....

      Anyone?

What is the path the cable routing front to back of the car for these lights?

Is there a specific fuse and or relay for these lights I should be checking?

what car is it? if its a saloon its more than likely the wiring from inside the boot to the boot lid itself, common problem.

guys, there is a sensor on the gearbox which is there for the reverse lights. If both of them are gone at the same time, that is most likely the cause.

i dont think this is related to the main rear lights though.

so it could be the cable tree culprit in that case and the bends on the cables

Thanks for the suggestions chaps - please keep em coming!

Hi Vasilis, what is the cable tree? Which are the most likely bends that might cause this problem?

To be honest, I am really puzzled with this one - the car is in such good condition all round I would be surprised if it's a brittle/fatigued cable. What else could explain both main lights and reverse lights not working! Every other light is OK, dash etc....

Does anyone know if the cables for the rear mains and reverse lights run along the floor or along the roof, front to back? Also do they run along the LHS or RHS of the car when sitting inside?

OK - feeling a little embarrassed now, as I've just been told there are no main rear lights. There is only the rear lights ie: side=mains. Doh! So that means, it's just the reverse lights not working, which is probably the gearbox switch. Will test it today.

U must take away the left hose and change or repare the wires.
