    Ambient temperature sensor location

    Hi,

I retrofitted the ambient temp display and placed the sensor in the front bumper. It seemed to work ok during the summer, but since the weather got cold the displayed value is way off. As it displays the right value when the engine is cold I'm thinking that the sensor is too close to the radiator or something.

Can anyone upload a photo of the original location of this sensor ? Preferably a LHD car, but a RHD one is good enough.

    Thank you.

The sensor is centre in this picture.

    It should have a resistance of 1000 ohms @ 25 degree C

Thanks John. Is this the original location or is yours retrofitted as well ?
If you leave the engine running (hot) for ~10 minutes without driving the car does your display indicate 30-40 deg Celsius (which is about 100 deg Fahr I think)?

        I found this :

I think it's from a 8D, I'll try to move mine in front of the radiator to see what happens.

Mine is in the original location but yes if you leave the car standing the temperature reading will go up due to radiated heat from the radiator. You'll only get an accurate reading when the car is on the move.
