    URS4 Tempomat

    Hi all.

Need some help from URS4s owners/expert please:

    I'm fitting on sunday a tempomat on a 1992 S4 of a friend.
because my previous experience with RS2 and cabbie, hope I don't have any problem with the fitting.
Mechanically speaking i know the procedures for power feeding brake lights connections and so on... but:
Anyone can confirm that on the S4 the speed signal comes on the blue/white wire as per B4s?
If yes where can I intercept/connect my tempomat speed signal?
Under steering wheel tray plugs array as per B4s?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help...

    Stefano

    Hi Veneto,
Yes it's much the same arrangement as found in the B4 models, the vehicle speed signal uses the blue/white wire as before and can be found in the instrument panel wiring harness found behind the instrument cluster.

      Well Nuvo thanks about that....
I do know about the instrument cluster... but.....
I was after a more practicle/handy/easier junction like the one on the B4 at page number 11 (pointed with N°1 arrow) on this PdF document

I'm quite sure on the C4 it's pretty muche the same under that tray.......
      Am I wrong?

The C4 differs hugely from the B4 wiring, it is a lot better organised in my opinion. The C4 chassis has 3 separate relay panels, a fuse panel and 3 connector stations which are used to link different harnesses together.

VSS is used by a number of sytems such as cruise control, diff-lock electronic cut-off, shift lock control among others. So there are a few places to tap it from.

You will be able to find the blue/white wire in two of the three connector stations, one is behind the centre console and the other is beneath the dash. Obviously finding one beneath the dash would be best.

Sorry I can't give you much more information than that but am sure you will be able to find them if you take a look and test for continuity with a DMM. You should find the wire housed in a 6 pin connector (one is blue and the other is green).

        Good luck.
