Projector lights which bulbs do what

I don't have a "flash" on either side of my headlights so presume it's a switch problem.
I think the flash is seperate from the high beam as I recall on a previous car that pushing the switch forward then pulling it back quickly to flash put an extra bulb on.
I'd like to start by checking the bulbs first.
Can anyone tell me which bulbs do what please.
If flash isn't seperate from high beam then I presume A is low beam (normal), B is sidelight, C and D are either fogs or high beam but without going outside in the piddling rain I don't know which.

C and D are low beam and fog lights, not sure which is which. A is high beam, and B the sidelight. If i had a battery in mine i would go out and double check.

I know the function you are referring to but i dont think it works on these. On my CQ for example it is has a H4 bulb for dipped/main beam, and also a H1 for main beam. Normally when you switch to main beam the H4 bulbs switches from one element to the other, but if you push the stalk away from you it will light both elements inside the bulb. Handy for that extra bit of light at times but it will overheat and burn out the bulbs if used permanently.

IMHO these projector lights in the S2/S4 are rubbish as you have a single H1 bulb for dipped, and a H1 for main beam. Non projectors have a H4 and H1 bulb, better dipped lighting, and two bulbs for main beam. They just dont look as pretty :-)

So A is the same bulb that lights for both high beam and flash?
So as my high beam (push stalk away) works just fine, the fault is in the switch.

Yeah sounds like it. If your good with taking fiddly things apart you can dismantle the switch and clean all the contacts. But be warned lots of springs and bits will fly out if your not careful.
