Any dash pod gurus in the house???

    Gents,

Do any of you guys out there know what might be causing ALL of my gauges to suddenly stop working?

Now I know there's a 15 amp fuse that keeps on blowing which is connected to the dashpod, however what the hell is making this blow

Any help would be much appreciated

Faulty ignition switch or the load reduction relay would be my first guesses

It also has a feed to the stereo too. Make sure there is not a bad connection behind it touching on anything metal...

Well I've just been out to the car and when i went to start her, I noticed that there was no ignition lights at all. I also noticed that when I put the side lights on, the centre console switches didn't light up except for the hazard switch. The number plate lights were not working also. Then I checked the glove box and noticed that there was just 2 wires hanging down, next thing you know I've go no interior lights at all

I dare say there's several fuses blown now

              Any other ideas gents?

I take it yours was an Avant, if so then where abouts did you have the problem with the loom on the tailgate?

on the passenger side where the hinge (spl) is for the boot lid inside the rubber ducting the wires was brittle and broken, i'd had around 7-8 wires gone in one go, kept blowing all the dash lights and the rear number plate lights at random. Its not too hard to fix just time consuming, seen a few like this and quite common

OK thanks for that, looks like I'm gonna be a busy boy this weekend

Having said that though, the bulb failure warning light on the autocheck has been playing up lately. I'm now wondering if this has something to do with it

Easiest thing to do before the weekend is just have a check around your car and see what does/does not work and see what tie's in together

The two wires hanging down - was they green with two spade connectors covered in black heat shrink - sounds like either they've come unplugged from the glove box light or thats missing.

I found the fuse that was blowing on mine was something like a 5 amp fuse iirc it was around a year ago I had the car, it might be worthwhile getting a couple of spare fuses and changing the one for the dash/numberplate lights and iirc the radio and then only opening the drivers door and putting side lights on and seeing if it blows and if you have dash and rear numberplate lights, if so open your tailgate a couple of times and see if it blows. Unfortunately sounds like it is the wiring at the rear, same symptoms as mine.

Just been out to my car and had a look at the wiring where it goes in to the tailgate on the left hand side, and sure enough there are plenty of insulation brakes in the various different wires there. It also looks like someone at some point has had a go at fixing it and not done a very good job

Just fixed the wiring on my Avant tailgate

Having said that, I'd suggest that all you guys out there with an Avant go and check the wiring in your tailgate on the top left hand side as you may well end up having problems just like I did

I had all of the above plus washer pump randomly running, possesed rear wiper, fog light switch comming on and various others before it twigged. As I've said before on here it seems to cause all manner of weirdies, and the saloons are prone to the same.

Taking this a step further the door wiring may also be worth looking at in the hinges. I noticed Rob's has been spannered with on the drivers side.
