A4 B5 Transponder key coding

Hi there,

I've got two keys for my A4 1997 tdi... but one is missing the transponder chip, can get one from fleabay, but was just wondering if anyone knows how to program them?

you need to get a 4 digit security number to program the transponder..

I can do it/extract the code for you, but I'm a fair old way from you.

Be very careful as there are both fixed code and rolling code transponder chips being used. The changeover point was around late 97

Okay. I just thought it was a case of insert key, twist with ignition on etc... but its more like a auto locksmiths job or, or the dreaded Audi dealership. I'll get one of my kidneys ready then!

i remember that car from waaaaaaaaay back in like 2002 in maxpower mag (donk shoot me i was 12 then!!) and it was running a 2.0 16v turbo motor and i remember oettinger had summat to do with it if i am correct?

just curious if my memory serves me right

sean! that golf was awesome! it was featured in max flower 1995. i have two pictures of it. funnily enough i emailed them last week asking for the feature, but no reply.
and you got a b5 5 pot? i was thinking of doing the same. I'm building a 90Q aby conversion at the mo, nearly there.
