    Factory Alarm Problem

Recently the car has started randomly triggering the alarm. I lock the car using
the original key in the door, the alarm arms but then goes off. Sometimes it
happens a minute after arming, sometimes it goes a day or two and then goes off. Any way to track down the cause? Also can I lock the car (RS2) without turning the
alarm on, I don't want to leave it unlocked.

Lastly how do I enable the courtesy sunroof and window close faeture when holding the key in the locked position? This worked on my '95 S6, maybe it wasn't an option on a '94 RS2?

    thanks, Mike Hopton

Check the vaccum/alarm unit pump.(rear right side beside windscreen wash fluid tank)hope you understand
    It was moist inside mine.
Just dry it and use electrocleaner on.

I founda problem with a dodgy wiring to the boot courtesy light was causing my alarm to trip occasionally. I think the alarm uses these circuits to check if the doors/boot are open or closed. Might be worth checking the condition of wires inside the rubber gaiters where they pass from the car body into the door/boot
