S2 Horn Saga Still Going On Help!!!!

    Hi Guys
I submitted a thread recently about the S2 Horn suddenly stopping working.
I was told to check horn connectors for corrosion etc, to date, i have checked the Relay on the bulkhead, the fuse, the wiring to the horns themsleves, the steering wheel connections with no joy, Still Dead!!!

I am no Auto Electrician but can get by with normal problems but this one seems to be out foxing me, i dont want to really have an Auto Electrician ripping me off for what may be a simple problem that is Staring me in the face.

Have any of yourselves had this problem, baring in mind, what has already been checked for faults to date???

I would be extremely gratefull for any more help this this problem as i dont like driving about like this, especially with some of the Muppets on the road.

    Regards David.

Hi Andy, thats about the only thing i havn't checked out apart from doing a wiring trace to see if a wire has burnt out, i will try what you have said when i get a minute.
      Regards David.

Yeah i had that probelm too! Happened when i took the steering wheel off.
Mine even fialed an MOT on that and it took me so long to work it out! lol

Another thing that i have happened on an S2 is that the copper pin that is in contact with the circular plate behind the steering wheel wore out. It should have a bit of copper slip on it so that it dosent grind its self down to much..

        Good luck!

          First of all:

Then you push the button can you hear how relay sounds like "tic"?
If no, try to change relay.
If you change relay and still ain't got any sounds from relay - the problem was in contact ring under you steering wheel.

If relay knocking then you push the button then check the horn themselves by directly connect the horn to the battery (use two wires).

If horn is Ok then check the power. One of wires to horn gives you +12 volts then ignition is on.
Second one gives you ground then you push the button.

If you ain't got any signal then something wrong in wire loom.
