    1989 Coupe Headlights

Aight guys just walked out of the cinemas started my car and the autocheck told me I had a light out. Went round the front of the car and my o/s headlight was on but very dim. Which type of bulbs would anyone sugest. My mainbeams seem fine but my lights have never been great. So either a replacement or and upgrade but money it tight so no rs2/ ellipsoid sugestions please.

I put Osram nightbreakers on mine and it made a significant difference to the lights (still not the best but better). Some places are charging up to £25 but if you shop around you should get a pair for around £12. The philips version are supposed good too.

Have also heard of people using PIAA bulbs but they are not legal and there may be some wiring issues IIRC. Though a few people have used them for a while with no problems.

Coupe lights are H1 for main beam, and a H4 for dipped/main beam. There is also two small bulbs for the sidelights.

There just a generic side light bulb, any motorfactors or garage will stock them. Cant remember off hand what kind of connector they have, think they are the ones with the metal base.

As Hibby says Osram nightbreakers work surprisingly well (used to be called Osram Silverstars). I use them in everything as they are whiter in colour than regular bulbs, and do give out a little more light. Downside is they dont last as long, i've had a few fail and each time the element had separated from the base.
