Long time guys but in need of a little help

    Hi guys,

Long time no speak, Abigail the 8 week old is keeping me very very busy so not really been having time for much else.

However started to go to work yesterday (5am) and the dipped beam is not working on both headlights. TBH I have not driven the car for over a month as the better half has been using it to save on the 40mile journey to work every day and I have been driving hers

The main beam is working, the side lights work, indicators fogs the lot but nothing on the dipped beam. I thought it may be the stalk after testing at the headlght end the three connections going in. IIRC using brown as the earth both times 2 of the 3 lines gave a 12V read and one didnt, the white and black wire (methinks) did it yesterday so not 100% on the colour of the wire but think is is the larger diameter one.

So changed the stalk housing over for a known working one and still nothing.

Where to look next guys (and before you slate me the fuses have been checked), is there a relay in the loop somewhere. Is the wire that comes of the back of the stalk on the purple and lack long connector in the bottom right corner the one that deals with the dipped beam (the connector seem to look like it has got a little hot at some point as the housing is a little mishappen.

    Cheers guys.

Would like to sort this asap as driving to work on fogs and mainbeams down a country lane although fun wil annoy the plod if they comethe other way.

    Cheers

Hehe Yup both bulbs checked and they are fine, also tried some replecement bulbs just in case, just managed to get it working following a bit of advice on a thread i found, scrapped out the inside of all connectors and gave them a little squeeze to ensure connection is made, gave all a good blast with a bt of contact cleaner too. All back together and hey presto working, but for how long.

Anyone suggest a better/ brighter bulb to try than the stock ones??

      Cheers

Okay okay, tell me I have missed something again.... but the main beam is not working now...... going to take the swith housing apart again and see wtf is going on, starting to get on my nerves now.

So HID kits where from? How much? and where to hide the balasts (also they can be put in the fogs too can't they? if doing a job do it properly )
