    Electric Window Problems, help needed

    Hi all,

Had some time to tinker with the 3b earlier.

one of my objectives was to figure out and fix the passenger side electric window.
when I got the car it was working, now nothing.

first stop was the switches, they are fine, they work the other window nicely.
so i took the door cards off and had a poke about. I couldnt really see anything out of

when i press the button with the engine running, the exhaust note changes slightly,
i expect i'd see the lights dim a bit too but i didnt check that, so i reckon power is still going to the motor, but it aint winding the window down.

am i right in thinking that there's only one relay/thermo fuse (or whatever) for both windows? and if so, if the other window is working, then it can't be broken?

I started to wonder if the windows was stuck in place, so i tried to wd-40 up some of the pulleys to no avail.

anyone got any bright ideas what it might be? or is it time to get the motor changed?

    cheers

Had same prob with mine turned out to be the relay connection not the relay itself, not sure if there's one or two, worth checking out before you start buying new motors though

Don´t rule out the switches just yet mate. I have had issues with the left hand one. First i opened the relay and re soldered every point, nothing. Next i swapped relay, nothing, Took doorcard off and poked around, nothing. All this time i ruled out the switches as when i pressed the button i could clearly hear the relay flicker and i could se the interior light dimmer. In the end i swapped the buttons over from left to right and hey presto left hand side was working! The wierd thing is so was the otherside... But now it´s playing up again. The other wierd thing is that it was always hard to get the window down, but never to get it up again... Good luck.

This will help you understand HTF it works - and how to test the switches as well... they can play up.
