What is this supposed to be connected to?

What is this white connector supposed to be connected to? I am guessing it has been connected in the past as there are score marks on the pins which you get from connecting them. It also has two small blue blobs of paint.

There are 4 connections to the top right, I am guessing they are for sensors, I am having problems with the Air intake temperature sensor with a bad connection (short or open to earth) so was wondering if it was one of these?

looks like either a knock sensor or a hall sender from the transmission.

I cant find any spare connections for it to fit into, I will have a better look tomorrow when there is more light. The car was previously superchiped and I remember reading that they unplugged loads of sensors could it possibly related to that?

The car is not running the correct amount of boost, I had it on Vagcom yesterday (thanks to SteveH) and the only thing that came up was the AIT sensor. If it was a hall sensor it would come up on vagcom. It may be a knock sensor, but would imagine the car would run really badly, knock sensors do not come up on vagcom though i dont think

It should connect in to one of the plugs in the rear of the picture i think. Where you have 4 stacked in a square.
The knock sensors are not that color though, They are green and blue or brown.
Could be one of the rear crank sensors.

I have had a look at the 4 connectors mentioned. They are all plugged into something, There is an identical white connector plugged into one of the four, I was wondering if maybe they got swapped around at some point by mistake?

The connector that is disconnected in the picture goes into a larger loom with yellow ribbed piping around it.

Looks like one of the coil pack connections, does your car have any kind of coil pack conversion?
