    UrS6 Oil pressure gauge

Just a small question. I know my car has more pressing issues but one day i wish to replace the volt meter in my S6's dash with the far more usefull oil pressure gauge of the UrS4. I once saw a post on here about it but can't find it.

I'm ok with the oily bit but have little patience for this kind of work. Does anyone know what kind of job it is?

this is really easy, if you can find a set of urs4 gauges (oil press, oil temp, clock) you can change them. its plug and play

Is the wiring/connection there for the gauge then?

Same with my S6 - an oil pressure gauge would be so much better than a volt meter, or the clock.

Might be true of installing UrS6 gauges in an UrS4 instrument cluster because all the UrS6 voltmeter has to do is pick-up voltage and that is right there, on the cluster. Going with UrS4 gauges into an UrS6 cluster, a) you need the pressure sender installed in the block and b) there is at least one wire that has to go to the cluster and the gauge that is not already there in the UrS6.

You need the Item 19 sender in this photo, plus the UrS4 gauges plus the appropriate wiring:

            94 UrS4 V8 6 spd manual avant

Yeh, too right. My plan is to, one day, replace the stupid volt meter with the oil pressure and the clock with one or Rusty's boost gauges which look like 'factory'

I would certainly be interested in the 'factory look' boost gauge.

The old saying goes If you got time to look at the gauges then you're not going fast enough!

Putting that aside, I've got an AEM boost gauge zeitronix data logger external boost controller with monitor and a gtech for my car. All of them are unplugged or hidden out of sight, they were there to monitor for changes and reliability during the process of mapping, setting up and changing components. Once happy with the results I disconnected the lot of them or hid them away other than the boost controller. If oil pressure is low the light will go on. If the light is not on and I don't hear tappets I'm not worried. The more gauges you have monitoring stuff the more worried you end up being about every little thing that is suddenly different from the norm even if it is only momentarily. It is great for diagnosing and pinpointing stuff whilst going through the process but once the end target has been achieved it does nothing but cause unnecessary worries. If the car is tuned so close to the edge that you need to have a billion gauges telling you what is going on for piece of mind I personally feel that things have been taken too far on a road car.

Thats a fair enough point. Mine has no oil light but only on the vcm display. Is this normal, also my check engine light goes back off before it's even started, unlike my S4. Does your S6 do the same?
