    MAF for 500 hp...?

    well
I will need some MAF sensor which will handle with 500 hp and to be capable with bosch Motronic ECU (stock AAN).
I know that stock MAF is good until 400 HP , but what after that?
SQ MAF are tooooo expensive , I could buy whole ViPec or VEMS for a price of SQ MAF.

so do we have any other solution?
    thanks

I sold one 2 months ago! hahaha what irony when you want sell something worthy nobody wants it now when it's gone somebody will ask for it
On your place If the money are not the problem I would go for ViPec without thinking!

Nikoas.. hahha , who don't have money problem today?
vipec is a excelent solution, bu I don't have money for them.

and I would like to stay on Motronic. they are very good for daily use car. and "smarter" than other standalone.

only this MAF make me a problem.
      this MAF allso use :
      bmw e34 M5
      audi sport quattro
      porsche 928

then maybe KMS MP25 is the compromise option for you. You will get rid of stuped MAF and some other useless stuf . I'm with with such setup and I can tell that the carr is better then with motronic. Only issue cold start - when is really cold I have to wait 1min to work on idle. But this is small price to pay considering the fact you forget about MAFs which are unreliable for cars with modifications (and not only) - if you buy used one if is working this is templorary solution it will fail again for sure, new one is to expensive and again there is no guarantee how long it will last.

        for KMS you will need:
        1. 3bar MAP
        2. Air temp sensor from Opel
        3. custom fly will or pulley crankshaft - KMS to read engine RPMs (not hard to be mada)
        4. KMS idle kit is recommended

        Thats it....

Maybe VEMS it's better for the fact of plug and play option but it's 80% base on MegaSquirt and this a fact which i don't like, plus I had some expiriance with it.......

KMS.. now is first time to see that ECU.. do you know the price of it?
but I have one problem..REMAP..who will do it for me? on that KMS ?

this is the true what you said.. MAF will stuck one day - this is 100%, and than again try to find other one.

for that KMS.. custom flywheel , what we have to do?
you have this KMS on your car?

              hm..
now you make me a thing about that..
so than I don't need motronic ? even the MAF is past ?

how much could that cost? ECU+REMAP+all other parts I need? do you know?

There are or have been several cars running 500+ with stock MAF? What´s wrong with that? I have noticed that in different parts of the world diffrent thing´s are no-no´s two thing´s i have noticed are The yes or no of stock MAF´s @ high power and the other is the yes or no of tubular manifold´s. In England it almost seems mandatory to have a cast ex-manny because "everybody" says a tubular one will crack... Over here almost nobody runs with cast mannys over 400hp and at least i don´t hear about many that crack? Actually dont se an awful lot of suppport braces either. Funny how differt locations can have such different oppinions on what´s right and what´s wrong? Sorry for highjacking your thread mate, And i know that AllarN on here has a SPQ MAF for sale.

You get rid of Motronic, Old wiring, MAF, NOC sensors and few other stuff....

                    You need kms mp25 - arround 800EUR
                    KMS idle control - 60EUR
                    MAP sensor - arround 70EUR
                    AIR temp sensor - 30EUR

custom fly will or pulley crankshaft - ????
                    New engine wiring - ???

                    And setup - ???

I don't know about what are your setup is but with KMS you will pass 500hp easy than same setup on motronic.

prj may be cooking something up with a bigger maf, newer technology as well.

by the way, i had been told that oem maf can hold 500hp though, but i went to aftermarket and got rid of it. Having said that, i wouldnt mind having a good quality maf in place to bring back the joy of fuel economy! haha

The economy is depending on how the car is mapped. If your MAF is damaged you will have bad economy + bad work + acceleration. So many things depends from 1 small wire

Only, because you never had anyone map your ECU properly.

This is because you don't know how to map your ECU properly.

Really? HFM5's and Hitachi MAF's run to 600whp on ME7.1 buddy.
There's nothing inherently unreliable about a MAF sensor.

MegaSquirt huh. VEMS firmware does not have a single line of code common with MegaSquirt.
The only thing VEMS re-used earlier from MegaSquirt was MegaTune. That's it. Only the tuning interface, but that is history now.

A lot, because stock MAF can not read after 350hp. Period.
That means the last 150hp are running off the last cell. That means every time you accelerate to WOT your engine goes momentally pig rich and your timing too late, then it gets progressively leaner and runs like ****.
I have noticed that in different parts of the world diffrent thing´s are no-no´s two thing´s i have noticed are The yes or no of stock MAF´s @ high power and the other is the yes or no of tubular manifold´s. The fact that the stock MAF maxes out above 350hp is fact. It's not an opinion.
It is also fact, that mapping a car to the last cell is bad tuning.
I guess people have different standards to mapping cars.

                          Again total b/s.
Just because you don't have/don't know anyone who can MAP M2.3.2 properly does not mean it cannot pass "xx" hp.
                          Look here: http://www.pk-motorsport.de/pic.html
                          Or here:

Plus, the cost of swapping to standalone is besides the cost of the standalone - fitting it and ALSO paying someone professional to map it, if you want it to run well.

                          ---

Anyway, on topic. If you want 500hp not mapped to last cell on Motronic, you will need a Sport Quattro or HFM5 MAF.
The HFM5 MAF is much less expensive, but the only person who has software for that MAF on M2.3.2 is me.

Nikolas.. that is more than 1000 euro for all that stuff... hm..

I will stay on motronic for now.. 450hp with stock MAF is easy possible .. but I will have parts for more than 500 hp... than I will save the money for ViPec and put it in car.
for ViPec have good suport and man who done this before seweral times on I5..

or maybe Dmitri do some crazy MAF which will be good for 1000 HP.. (from Opel 1.2)
