    Yes.
Doesn't placing the MAF on the pressure side address most of these issues of broken MAFs?
The problem is not as much it breaking, as it not reading enough.
If you place it on pressure side it still will not read more than 350hp.

It's like running 2 bar boost on 250kpa MAP. There is no boost cut and no feedback control.
Same with running the engine off the last column - no fuel cut and fuel/ignition is set for max load. But when it goes into that column at 350hp, you run pig rich with late ignition...
This hurts performance, spool and is bad for your motor in general, because basically after 350hp your car is running off the same injector pulsewidth and the same ignition angle... the same amount of fuel is used for 350 hp as for 500hp for example. Do you not see why this is bad?

      Yes sir, thank you
I believe I read a post on Motorgeek about a solution for this. Are you involved with them? I understand It is based on the aforementioned RS4 maf.

They also said something about a tuning tool for motronic... I can dig the post if you need.

        Don't think so.
A tuning tool is not really financially profitable to make, otherwise I'd make one.

According to them, this tool will allow to do all the adjustments to motronic on the fly.

          Here is the thread
I've heard about it, but when's it coming out? I'll be upgrading my turbo in a couple months time and don't wanna go smaller than I want to due to MAF restrictions then have the big MAF tune come out and make me cry.

Well, they have said that they will bring that out since more than a year now, and I have not seen anything yet.

They will need to develop a custom dual emulator daughterboard and then develop software as well.
And you can't sell this stuff for a lot of money, because VEMS is comparatively cheap.

You see, those who can't tune will just go to a tuner and get their car mapped, just like before.
Those who can tune, might as well buy VEMS.

I frankly don't see to who that product will appeal and I don't see how to cover development costs...
Also, fuel and spark maps are peanuts - there is so much more to it, especially when you start making over 400hp.

              Ok, makes sense.

When you tune a motronic, how important do you feel a dyno is?

As important as with any other system.
It's easier to get motronic running decently on the street if you know how to tell it the injector sizes properly, because fuelling in transients will be instantly spot-on due to the MAF.
However, when tuning for the last bits of power, you will need a dyno to be able to accurately finetune timing and boost.

I would say it is possible to get 85-90% there on the street, and for the rest you need a load bearing dyno, no other way.

                  So much knowledge.

I guess we will be talking about this MAF and tuning stuff soon enough.

                  Thanks
