    Central Locking

I have a problem with the central locking on my cab (not an S2 I know but hopefully someone can help)
The boot has locked shut and will not unlock with the central locking. It makes a whirring noise and clicks but nothing else. When the boot was unlocked, the push button wouldnt work to release the hood cover.
    Any ideas anyone???

    donut,

Audifans will probably cover this problem much better than here.

My limited experience of this issue with mine was that the problem maybe caused by the breakage of the electrical wires that come from underneath each side of the rear window area and lead to the boot. The problem is these electrical cables on each side bend through an acute angle each time the boot is opened which eventually breaks the copper core inside the external plastic insulation.

The release of the hood is dependent on all of the electrical responses being correct from various items including the status of the boot lock, and so if cables are broken the hood will not release. I am assuming it is a powered roof, rather than a manual one.

Hopefully you can open it with key, if not you may end up having to break out the driver's tail light to get at the locking / release mechanism for the boot.

On mine when it was faulty / unreliable I took off the internal boot cover and left it off and also attached a zip tie and bit of string and left the other end of the excess string in the trough between the edge of the boot and the top of the rear quarter. Outside the boot seal. This allowed me to fish out the string from the panel gap, and pull the string which triggered directly on the rod going to the release trigger of the lock.

Before all of this you really need to go to a breakers yard and thoroughly investigate the whole mechanism and cabling etc on a Cabrio in the yard.

The whole issue of the hood and the boot is a bit complicated at first, but not insurmountable, but by reading all of the relevant threads on Audifans to get your head around the various issues, and a visit to the breakers yard with a digital camera you should be ok.

Hope the above makes sense, and is of some help.

    kind regards.
