Resetting locks with factory/toad alarm

Ever since I have owned the car on the occaisions I have had to disconnect the battery,it has been a right royal pain in the **** to reset the alarm.Once the battery is reconnected and the doors locked it seems to take ages before the central locking starts working properley.
Is there a simple procedure to reset the factory alarm,wasn't there something about turning the key three times to the right or am I being mad!
Basically after putting the battery back on it will lock all doors and then every time you try to open the doors it will only operate the drivers door lock and not the others.In the past after pratting about with it all of a sudden all the door locks will open.
I haven't quite worked out if there is some sort of sequence to do things
Any help would be greatly appreciated,atm the car is sitting there with both factory and afternmarket alarms activated.....not going anywhere tonight

I had a similar thing on my blue S2 with a Toad, if the battery was disconnected the doors got out of sync with the alarm.
I seem to remember fixing it by either setting the alarm and then locking the doors with the key, or the other way round (unarming the alarm and then unlocking with key)

Well managed to get it working again,its like Dest says the locks are out of sync with the alarm.Think it might have been setting the alarm and then locking the doors.Tbh i'm not sure it was even that,spent an hour on it last night and couldn't get the locks to all come up.But this morning had one more go and bingo!
