lisense plate light, instrument cluster, glovebox lights

So i keep blowing the 5amp fuse 14, I was out of town when the problem started, a friend was borrowing the car so details are a little vague. I recently switched to the treser tail lights and it does appear that the leads for the rear plate lights are a larger gauge (err lower guage). So i tried unpluging it, it will still blow when i plug it back in, tried removing the bulb from the glove box, still no joy. Is it possible that the stalks are bad and causing the problem? Any leads would be appreciated.

BTDT,I have removed the stalk since I guess my stalk was gremlins.
Finally ,I found one wire split and short to the ground inside the trunk lid
behind taillights.Be patience investigating this but it's worth a try.
