Power Source in engine bay for relayed HID installation?

Anyone know a good spot in the engine bay or maybe the main fusebox to get a good 12V+ so I can run my HID's off a relay without wiring to the battery under the seat? (I'll add a fuse of course)

I'm having trouble getting them to ignite reliably even with an earth to the body - but they work fine stright off the battery. . The ebay jobbies I've got apparently have a 'safety feature' where they cut out if voltage or current drops too much on startup...

Is the power supply from the battery to the main fuse box easy to identify and tap into?

Go from the underside of your fusebox, access to it is just through one of the rubber grommets in your bulkhead. 12V permanent live is a group of large spade terminals together all marked "30".

Its easier, staying inside the engine bay, to jump off the alternator or starter where there is a big fat eyelet terminal with permanent 12V. You must route that cable carefully and fuse it as near source as possible... you dont want a frayed cable there causing a short circuit to engine or body.

Route it to a relay carrier that you can attach firmly to the body.
