stalks not working, help!

    stalks not working, help!

    Hello.

    I got a very strange issue with the stalks.

    The rear pair of stalks are not working, that means the side repeaters stalk and wipers stalk. the headlight on off stalk works, and the hazard 4 side repeaters stalk works.

    could be an earth problem or a keyswitch + problem, but in that wire mess i cant pinpoint anything. fuses checked...

    please help

      maybe worth giving all the internal contacts a good clean, and making sure the springy contacts are seated properly. This was the problem when i had a dodgy headlight stalk.

          Yep mine were given a blast with air compressor, and they worked again.
          Dirt on the contacts.

          Worth a go, before looking for more complicated issues.

              it is not a problem with the stalks, i have tried an other stalk set with no difference...

                      isnt the fuse no 15 for both the side repeaters and for the wipers?

                      triple checked + changed the fuse and still nothing.

                      do they share also the same ground wire?

                          Pull the ignition switch and see if the spring at the front side of it is busted.

                              Anyone know where the GROUND of the headlights bolts to the chassis???

                              p.s.: or/if it has some connector under the dash or somewhere?

                                  It should be under the dash on the left above the bonnet release.

                                  I had a bunch of weird electrical gremlins on a B4 80q that I bought to resell a couple of years ago. The blinkers wouldn't work, the radiator fan had no power, etc. I replaced everything trying to get them to resolve the problem. Nothing worked. After pondering it for a while I thought, OK what is the only thing these problems have in common? Fusebox. All my professional mechanic friends said "no way", but I figured what the heck 'cause I had a couple spares. Guess what, it fixed everything.

                                  Apparently the lid had not been shut tight and allowed the ingress of water. This, of course, fried the fuse box and cause all my troubles.

                                  Just a thought.
