Did the one that you installed look like the first or the second photo

So does it look like the old one or is the sender shifted a bit around the "clock", instead of 11 o'clock, it sits at 1 o'clock?

I thought the 3B distributor Hall sender looked like this:

      RS2'd 93 UrS4 5 spd sedan
      94 UrS4 V8 6 spd manual avant

Okay. Just checking in case that the position of the hall sender was different, resulting in your missing.

I am pleased to say this problem is now sorted.

I started to suspect the MAF was on its way out and realised i had a golf vr6 obd1 maf laying around. Some searching here on the forum revealed that they can be used on s2's.
Its now smoother and pulls cleanly right through the rev range without any hicups.

Smooth and clean but without the full punch of power i reckon.

This is only to get me by, to and from work till i get the correct unit for it. Then it'll go in the boot as a spare

Would anyone be able to tell me where's best to get one from? The knackered one has a re-con sticker on it and doesn't look old id rather a proper bosch one than another re-con.

How many limbs is the part gunna cost roughly?

            Thankyou guys

              MAF PN Info

              Good news.

As far as I can tell, the mass air flow sensor (MAF) for the 3B S2 is the same as that for the RR Urq, the ABY S2 and 3B 200 20vt and the AAN UrS4 and UrS6 (all same PN 034133471K). (Bosch 0 280 213 007)

There is a Volvo MAF that works quite well too, e.g. Bosch 0 280 213 012 which belongs to Volvo 960 3.0 ltr Yr 1993-96

When you are searching around, e.g. WorldPac, if you enter by vehicle, you get 0986280137 which is a Bosch reman part #. Entering 034 133 471K returns Worldpak # W0133-1598295 with a slightly different price for the same part. Observe the paper sticker with the Bosch reman part #.

If you use 034 133 471N (the RS2 MAF, Bosch 0 280 213 017) you might get lucky. OR try using use Porsche # 951 606 125 02 and get Bosch reman part # 0986280139. If you enter with Bosch (new) part# 0280213017 you get the same part. Of course, you might need a core or add to the price.
