Help needed with engine loom conectors knock sensor colours.

I have a 3b motor in my ur and just need to sort a couple of issues.

    1. Knock sensor colours.

Sensor 1 @ the front is green, sensor 2 towards the gearbox end is blue (as pictured). Shouldn't these be green and brown? Also the conectors on the loom are blue and brown, Again shouldn't these be green and brown? I'm wanting to replace the knock sensors as the insulation has cracked. which one's should i get?

    2. Sensor on the top of the bell housing.

As pictured below, what is this sensor with the 3 pin black plug and where does it plug into? I have no speedo working, has this got somethig to do with it?

      3. Connectors near intercooler (ur).

There are 4 single connectors near the drivers chassie leg as pictured below. 1 red 1 blue 1 white 1 yellow. White and yellow are for the stater motor, what are the red and blue one's for?

2nd pic of "connector 4" looks like the cruise control connector to the vacuum pump...

3B and AAN Knock sensor info

Somebody might have installed a AAN harness and/or AAN knock sensors. Actual 3B knock sensors are green and brown. The shorter one, 740 mm long, 054905377A, (Item 30 in the diagram), presumably the one closest to the rear of the engine is green for a 3B. The longer one, 930 mm long, 077905377A, (Item 31 in the diagram), presumably closest to the front of the engine, is brown for the 3B and ABY.

AAN knock sensors are blue and green.

Sounds like I should go for new green and brown knock sensors then as the motor is 3b, Just hope they work with the brown and blue connectors on the harness. My harness seams to be a mix of 3b and aan for some reason.

You do know there is no electrical difference between the knock sensors? the colour only signfies the difference in lead length

More importantly, the colour is supposed to help you from muffing up the connections and connecting Knock Sensor 1 to the Knock Sensor 2 ECU harness plug and vice versa.

Not the best photo going so I am only guessing that it is the oil temperature sender that is located in the in oil pump, at the front of the engine, near the crank sprocket. Should be a single wire connection. http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/93029.phtml

That is the sensor in question 5.

So it's an oil temp sender. I'm wondering if the wiring for this is one of the connectors in picture 3. I take it this will be why I have the oil warning light lite on the dash. Again thanks for the info, keep it comming.

Those connectors in Photo 3 aren't for the oil temp sender. The oil temp sender is a single wire with a female connector that slides over the end of the oil temp sender, from the side, not the top. (sounds "dirty" I know).

BTW there is no oil level sensor, just oil temp and oil pressure.
