    LCD clock on dash 00:00!!

Have a 93 B4. Every time I turn the car on (the engine), the lcd clock on the dash resets itself back to 00:00. Apparently it's been like this since the previous owner had the heater matrix replaced. Any ideas before I start ripping the dash apart to find a loose or incorrect connection?

Hi, yes it does. It also keeps perfect time lol until you switch the engine on again, then it resets back to 00:00.

My advices would be only to restart the car at midnight.

If you had access to another car you could temporarily swop in your clocks to the other car to establish if is your car or your dash clocks binnacle that is at fault.

Might be worth it before pulling out the dash, also before that take out the dash clocks binnacle and see if there's anything obvious behind before having to resort to pulling out the whole dash.

If you do have to pull out the dash, read a couple of thread first as there are a couple of obscure screws that will mess you up.

Probably not an option, but practice on a B4 dash in the breakers, including later B4 cabrios that might be available ?

When you find the problem, can you post the cure.

                      Good luck and kind regards.

I have a second binnacle of clocks so will give that a go before pulling the dash! Will let you know how I get on, cheers.

                            Clocks

                            Hi mate
I know if battery voltage is low then clock switches to 00:00. perhaps voltage to dash drops to low when you crank engine.....to start............what condition is battery?

                            my 2 worthless cents
                            cheers

Good call! I'm not sure as I've not had the car all that long. Starts with no problems but I'll check that out as well.
