    Central Locking being weird

    Hi guys,

I am having an issue with my central locking, it appears that using the key on the passenger side opens and locks all doors, but using it on the drivers side only opens the drivers door lock, ditto for closing.

Any suggestions? it sounds as though the pump is working fine, is it just the solenoid on the drivers door or more complex?

Oh this should be good. Mine does exactly the same. I think its something to do with the wires that go through into the tail gate being broken as when you poke the bundle you can see it lock the car. maybe worth trying to fix there first.

ok, when it stops pissing down with rain will have a poke around, I was thinking as a test to swap the soleniod from the passenger side to drivers and see if it works, if so, means a dead 'loid

The drivers door lock (rather than the tailgate) would be my area of investigation, I have to be more purposeful with the key when unlocking, otherwise only the drivers door will unlock & the alarm will still be active

If anyone figures it out let me know please as I have had this issue for a while and have been to lazy to try to fix it. I have however had the door open to see if it was all connected up properly and it was so I then stopped investigating. Only excuse is Laziness and a stupid T4 taking up all my time.

I had exactly the same fault with mine. It was a broken wire in the rubber between drivers door and main body. Over the years with door constantly opening wire just gave up.

Cool thanks. I will also be looking there to then. Any chance you remember what the colour of the wire was?

Last year when I was in Leeds with French Polisher (Rob) he poked my tail gate wires with his finger and it locked the car and he explained he had repaired those after his had gone caput.

ok, bit weird this, was going to tackle this today, and after finishing off my rear light swapover, the central locking decided to work again, all doors, no issues, now I am even more confused... there must be gremlins in this car !!

it will be down to the wiring and opbvioulsy you playing in the boot lid wiwll have done something therefore leading me to believe its dodgy wires there. Still worth investigating I guess. Im gonna have to do mine soon. Got to ge tthe rear fogs working for MOT and I know its the wires giving me issues.
