ABY Alternator on anything newer ?

Is the ABY alternator fitted to any anything newer, or is there any vehicle newer that's alternator can be used on an ABY, with no or very little modification.

The standard ABY output of 120 amp is fine.

Can someone post the ABY oem part number and the Bosch number ?

    Any comments welcome.

    Thanks.

    Audi part number 034 903 016 N

    Bosch Part number 0 123 510 015

Not sure if there are any alternatives. Thats an original ABY one.

Depends what you mean by "little or no modification". The alternator is as common as dog p** as long as you're prepared to swap the pulley over to the one suitable for an S2.

Happy to swap the pulley no bother, what new cars is it on, doesn't need to be an exhaustive list.

Keen to get a fresh alternator from a new modern crashed car, rather than refurbish an old ABY alternator.

        Thanks for replies.

My thoughts exactly. I contacted main dealer for a new unit which was over £300. So I stripped mine apart to get the casings aqua blasted but the internals where knackered and it didn't make sense to re-assemble it.

Funny.....just dropped mine off at the rebuilder a minute ago. Hopefully it can be refurbished.

If not, I believe the later urs6 was similar. Swap the pulley, the rear plastic cover, and a couple of bolts used in adjustment and should be good.

                Hi Tom,

Thanks. Was really thinking of a 2009 / 2010 / 2011 car to use a very fresh one.

Good to see your progress is continuing.

                Kind regards.

I am sure my last quote for one was £140 plus surcharge for a new one.

remember to change to 15 volt regulator ( alt 14,7v) gives about 0,2-0,3 lower volt than the stamped on....and have a fresh battery in the car.

Got mine back from the rebuilder yesterday. I can say it looks nice, won't know how well it works for a while though.

You may re-consider doing that. I've just dropped my old alternator into Universal for a rebuild. Chatting to one of the front desk staffers, I was surprised to hear that they see a lot of the newer design alternators in for rebuilds. His opinion was that they were not made as well as our Bosch units! http://www.universal-rotating.co.uk

Cost me £120 for a full re-build including next day delivery.

You can use an alternator from an AUDI A8 . Part number is 077903015K. 150Amps i think is enough. I saw this on a german site. If you do a full refurbish of your alternator, even is quite expensive you will have a good alternator for a long time . My 2p opinion .
