Anyone <looks around for the fine VAG Parts folks> got part numbers (and prices)?
Cheers,

The dealers told him its because he needs to replace his airbag cos its 10 years old.
That would mean everybody who has an L or M reg car needs to replace their airbag?

Sal,
Do you ever use Digbeth Audi? They seem to have got even worse since we bought them out. Let me know if you have any trouble with them and I'll get it sorted.
There's no way to test an airbag without actually deploying it so the computer can't tell you it's knackered. The reason the fault occurs is because the slip ring which feeds power to the airbag wears out from all the turning it does.
That stealer would charge £600+VAT for the new airbag and then tell him it needed a slip ring as well. Or just change the spring and pretend to have changed the airbag. (I've been working for dealerships too long)
Curly,
Need chassis number to get the right part number, but it's either £95 or £158+VAT. (from us main stealers) I can look up the info on how to change it if you fancy tackling it yourself.

It's no fun now. We used to slag of Hartwells for being crap then we bought their Audi site. So we all work for the same parent company. Having said they are crap
Whenever you need anything from them you can always call me first to sort out part numbers and prices for you. I can even tell you if they have it in stock.

Ben
I would be interested to know how long/how difficult it is. I've got to take the cluster out at some point to replace a couple of the blown bulbs (ambient temperature and clock), and suspect there's some commonality to the bits that have to come out the way first.
Thanks,

Working on airbag system should be done by someone with training, correct procedures must be used otherwise it can be very very dangerous. Just a word of warning.sigpic

All frivolity aside, I've got a main stealer who sorted the airbag out last time this light went on, under 12 months ago. It is therefore under guarantee. Problem is, I've moved since then, and that stealer is more than 200 miles away.
Tomorrows project then, aside from dodging something bad at work and trying to buy Kylie concert tickets (which go on sale tomorrow morning), is to persuade the stealer that since their work is under guarantee, I'm going to go to my now local dealer, and the stealer is going to pay. Should be an "interesting" day.
