urS6 - Soft Cut Interior Light Function into an S2 ?

Not sure if this has been covered before, but was interested to know what’s involved in having the urS6 soft cut to the interior lights function put into an ABY Avant ?

It’s a nice feature compared to the sudden cut in the standard ABY Avant interior lights.

I presume it is not as handy as swopping in a relay ?

    Calling urS4boy.

    Thanks for any replies.

Not unless the S2 Avant has a double wide relay like the UrS6 does. I presume that the soft-cut is really just a capacitor that is charged up with the lighting circuit on and then when the lights are turned off/doors locked with the remote, the capacitor dumps the stored electrons out, until it slowly runs to empty = lights out.

Here is some C4 UrS lamp control module (302 for the UrS4 and 374 for the UrS6) info:

There used to be a small unit (about 2 inches long by a quarter inch diametre) that you could connect inline to any door switch or interior light ***'y, that did the same. I'll have a look for it......
If not, i would presume that it is a simple holding capacitor which shouldn't be too hard to knock up!

I have'nt noticed any significant delay on the interior lights, seems quite same as my old B4. What should the delay be, similiar to newer VAG at around 1s or even more?

            Zoig,

In my B4s the interior light stays on for a while and then turns off suddenly.

Whereas in my urS6, the interior light stays on for a similar length of time, but it fades out slowly like a new car.

In my mind it is a nice feature that I was keen to fit to my S2, if it was relatively easy for me to do so.

            Hope this makes sense.

I'll check this tomorrow, i'm pretty sure there is no significant fading on my car. At least when compared to my old Fabia there is no comparable faiding there.

there are aftermarket kits for this, very cheap and easily installed (couple of minutes). probably just a capacitor and a diode.

Yep. Exactly the same as i have in UrS6.
I also had an aftermarket thingy that did the same. It's a nice touch, huh?
