    Installing trip-computer in a TDI

    I was wondering if it is possible to install a trip/consumption-computer in a 80 Avant TDI without any problems?
    I did this job on my `89 Coupe 20VQ and then I just had to find and connect a yellow plug near the pedals to make the unit show fuel-consumption.
    When i looked for it in mye `93 TDI I did`nt fint it??
    Where do I find the consumption-signal in this car?

    As far as i Know for TDI engines pre 08.93 you don't have a signal for fuel consumption. It was a topic on a german forum about this thing. Try to find it.

      as above, you can't do it unfortunately unless you upgrade all the wiring and mess around with it from a newer car.

        you need the newer version with MAF, model year 94, then it´s possible to install the trip computer, and even a cruise control

          Ah, how unfortunet...
          Isnt there any signal to find from the harness to the ECU either?

            Does any of the other functions one the computer work without the fuelconsuption?
            As the "how-long-to-next-fueling" and the messauring of the avrage-speed?

              yes they work, all that dont depend on the fuel consumption.
