Look for 20V_Krummer or Kruemmer on groups.yahoo.com. Great site run by Tommy Arnberg - had that info once. Sorry don't have direct links to hand. Tommy has done such a conversion before - more than once...

Well you could look at S2central.com at ECU pin locations to start.

What a nightmare of a job, would be easier to locate an ABY/ADU loom and swap it over complete, surely it 'just' plugs in!! LMAO

If you swap over to aby I might somewhat consider buying your 3b loom and ecu. Keep that in mind you have options.

Also noted if you want to swap to aby.

            Here's the deal

The fan side harness plug in doesn't match the aby but it's only 4 wires that includes one wire for the reverse lights, one wire for the afterrun coolant pump to radiator fan to relay connection, one wire for the coolant level switch If I remember right. Also the ac/climate control doesn't match up probably for your aplication which is also only about 4 wires.

Also if your tranny has a 5 plug in connector for the speedometer you need to swap that out on the aby harness for a 3 plug connector.

I know this because I know the 3b plugs directly into my 7a setup. However I pluged in an aby setup.

            Cheers

              Thanks for the input guys!
Yes I have a complete ADU/ABY loom. So the whole 3B loom is coming out. And yes i will keep you in mind Josh no problem.

I've looked at the kreummer files database, and printed the excel conversion sheet. I think its a staright swap aswell Tom. But some things got to be diffrent somewhere....And i need to know exactly where
Josh, have you got more of those great hints!!!!
I would be helped so much!!

                Hi jeffer

I should be able to tell you what ever you need to know.

Since the engine harness brakes apart into two pieces. Those two 8 pin connectors. Hypothetically speaking you should be able to keep that part of the 3b harness on the car which is connected to the knock sensors, oil sensors, speedometer sensors etc. I can't committ to saying yet to this because I have never looked at the 3b dual 8 pin connectors in the engine bay. But if this was the case you wouldn't have to mess with the 3b speedometer pluggin etc.

There is a 10 pin connector and a 5 pin connector that attaches to the dash harness. They are both black in color. They are for the autocheck unit etc. Hypothetically speaking they should match up. The aby harness matched up to my 7a harness. But if it didn't it wouldn't be a big deal for you to figure out becuase motronic is not connected to it and therefore you could drive around and figure it out over time.

Basically there is about 5 or 6 plug in that connect to the aux relay panel. They should be the same color as the 3b harness there for if you label it, take pictures, or remember the position you should be able to just switch everything out.

There is a connector for the diagnostic port
There is a L30 connectors, or two I don't remember which is a power feed.
There is a connector for the 02 sensor.
There is a connector for the fuel pump relay

                And of course the fuses.

It's a bitch to get at some of the connectors. I'll be honest.

I just realized you going to have to pull the dash out too, and the heater core/ climate control box to get the ecu wiring out. So you will have to probably dump out the coolant and the Ac, if you have AC.

Taking the dash out is easy to me, because I have done it so many times. But it can be a bit um....... perplexing at first.

I have to take a shower and go to bed. It's late here in the states.
I'd type more but sleep is necessary.

If you have any more questions keep this thread going.

                Cheers
                Josh

                  Thanks Josh for this input,

I'm almost there, I have identified 99% of all the wires on my ADU engineloom thats layed out on the floor.
Especially the fusebox bit, thats a real PITA

While the dashboard is out I'm also replacing the AC headunit with the RS2 newer style one. But for that I need a small bit of loom that connects the main car loom with the climate unit. That's the last piece of the puzzle.

                  thanks again!

I have the newer style sitting in my basement. I opted not to try yet to get that to work with the other harnesses. The nice things about it is that fact that vagcom will work with it if you wire it correctly.

It runs the climate control blowers via electric switches not vacumn switches which means you have to use the whole heater core box etc from the newer cars. I can't commit to saying this is completely true. But I am priety sure of it. It's a bit of a pita but when I get bored and need a project to do I am sure I will get that to work with the aby harness at some point.

                    Cheers
